Hey there fellow carbon-based human(hopefully)! Thanks for visiting. I like to think of myself as a carbon-chauvinist on a pale blue dot enroute to being a martian. When I was younger, I was obssesed with interplanetary travel and discovery. I still am. There’s something deeply primal about figuring what’s out there. I blame Carl Sagan’s books, Cosmos, and The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark for the obsession. They remain some of my most favorite books till this day. Even though much of their content is dated, Carl’s writing prose is a beacon of hope, wonder, healthy skepticism and curiosity - traits that fundamentally define who I am as a person today.

Presently, I am intersted in a bunch of things, primarily designing and building robust software systems and infrastructure, and learning more about and optimizing how the brain works. Away from the keyboard, I enjoy functionally working out, trying out different teas, or playing soccer. I recently graduated from Johns Hopkins University where I studied computer science, worked a few software engineering internships, researched distributed systems, and invested in Hopkins affiliated founders.

I use this blog as a way to document my explorations, much like Sagan, so expect topics around computer systems, neuro, health, gym, and misc. Feedback in all forms is highly appreciated. There’s so much I’m yet to learn. If you’d love to chat about anything really, send me a note: hi@bnjoroge.com
